We started using our new truck this week, and it's already making a difference to how we run.
A more efficient setup
It's a beavertail, new to us rather than brand new, but a real step up all the same. The biggest difference is in loading and unloading. Getting the machine on and off is now so much quicker and easier, which might sound like a small thing, but it adds up fast. Less time spent at either end of a job means more time actually getting into the work, and a more efficient day all round. It's also still set up with a tipper, so when a job calls for taking material away rather than leaving it on site, that's covered too.
Between the Kubota, the Fecon mulcher and now the truck, the whole operation is running more smoothly than ever, and that means I can get to your property quicker and work more efficiently once I'm there.
The work this setup is built for
So with the gear sorted and plenty of capacity heading into the busy season, it's worth saying a bit about the sort of work this setup is really built for.
The big ones are gorse and blackberry. If you're on acreage anywhere around here, you'll know how quickly they take over. They start in a corner or along a fence line, and within a season or two they've claimed a whole section of a property, crowding out everything else and making the land unusable. The machine makes short work of that thick, woody growth. It knocks it right back and processes it on site as mulch, so there's no burning, no piles and nothing to cart away.
The same goes for any overgrown area that's slowly got away from you, the back paddock you've stopped using, the section that's thickened up under the trees, the block that's become too big a job to tackle by hand.
Opening up land thoughtfully
What I'd always add is that opening a property back up doesn't have to mean stripping it bare. The way I work is to deal with the invasive and problem vegetation while working around the established trees and the native vegetation worth keeping. Every property is different, so it always comes back to what you're trying to achieve with your land.
If you've got gorse, blackberry or an overgrown area you'd like a hand with, whether that's around the Surf Coast, the Otways, Geelong or anywhere in between, get in touch and I'll come out for a free on-site look.
We work with you to open up your land, the right way.
