About Otway Forestry Mulching

Otway Forestry Mulching was born from our family's love of the Otways and Surf Coast region. Most weekends you'll find us out on bush tracks, spotting wildlife, and teaching our kids to respect the land. That connection shapes how we approach every job.

We're a small family-run business based in Mt Duneed — right on the doorstep of the Surf Coast and a short drive from the Otways, the two landscapes we know best. Because this is where we live and raise our family, we take a long-term view of land care. Good land management isn't about removing everything — it's about thoughtfully managing regrowth, improving access, reducing fire risk, and helping properties thrive again.

We're best suited to lifestyle blocks, bush properties and acreage where regrowth has built up over time and owners want fast, visible improvement while still respecting the natural character of the land. Whether it's a single visit to reclaim a section that's been closed off for years, or an ongoing annual maintenance plan, we focus on giving landowners back the parts of their property they've lost.

Many of the properties we work on are lifestyle blocks of an acre or more, where vegetation has slowly crept in over time. Forestry mulching allows us to selectively manage dense scrub, blackberry, tea tree and regrowth while preserving the natural character of the land. Often the result is simply opening up parts of a property that people haven't been able to access or see properly for years.

We operate a Kubota SVL95-2 paired with a Fecon forestry mulcher — a powerful combination that efficiently manages dense vegetation and small trees while returning organic matter back to the soil as natural mulch.

One of the parts of the job Lachlan enjoys most is getting to visit people's properties. Southwest Victoria is full of beautiful bush blocks and hidden landscapes, and it's always a privilege to help landowners improve access to areas they may not have been able to walk through in years. We try to bring a friendly, practical approach to every job, because good relationships with landowners matter just as much as good results.
